once upon a time in india, although they might still do it, medicine men would travel from village to village claiming that they had a procedure that would eliminate cataracts in the eyes.

a quick snip to the eye and guess what? the cataract was gone.

it was a miracle, but a short lived one because by the time the medicine man was out of the village with his payment in his pocket, his victim would discover that he was now going to be completely blind.

ronald zarella the ceo of bausch & lomb the makers of “renu with moisture loc,” a solution for cleaning contact lenses, gets the “hey abbott award” for this week. actually, he should get some heavy time in the slammer.

it turns out that the solution which has been used by millions of people actually causes fungal infections that could lead to blindness. even though zarella and his company suspected the worst, they still sold the product and if they had not been caught this past week, they would have kept on selling it.

it makes you wonder how a man like zarella sleeps at night? how much do you want to bet that if he had children who wore contact lenses, they sure would not have been using this product?

zarella should share this award with the many ophthalmologists around the country who suspected the product, but just didn’t bother to notify the federal centers for disease control.

thank goodness a new jersey opthomologist finally had the courage to blow the whistle on zarella and his company zombies.

when zarella does go to reside with satan, he will probably be made to soak his own eyes with “renu with moisture loc” for all eternity.
